Septic Safe Garbage Disposals
It used to be that if you lived in a rural area and had your own septic tank system you couldn't really have a garbage disposal because all
that ground up waste went into the septic tank and took up too much space. It could cause backflow problems and a host of other issues that just
weren't worth it. I live in town and love my garbage disposal, so when we move to the country in a few years I want to be sure I can keep that
wonderful convenience. Now I can.
It requires that you get a garbage disposal that's safe for home septic systems. As far as you're concerned it works about the same, but this
one grinds up the food so much it becomes practically a liquid before it goes into the system. There's much less bulk and it won't clog anything
up. You install it under the sink and install it to the dishwasher and waste lines just like your normally would.
The extra highspeed motor grinds the food more finely and some of them also have an agent that pushes organisms into the waste stream to help
with the breakdown while in the septic tank.
I'm so happy to have found this product because it means I don't have to give up my "in town" conveniences. No more dumping food into a bucket
(although the farm cats will still want something I suppose.)
